Rejoice!

“Rejoice” is a word for the hard times.  It is a good discipline for us when we aren’t experiencing joy, and especially when we don’t seem to have any earthly reason to have joy.  That is why we are called to “rejoice in the Lord,” not in our difficult circumstances.  You don’t need to rejoice when you already have joy.  You don’t have to return to joy if you never left it.  And yet the apostle Paul exhorts us to, “Rejoice in the Lord always, again I say, ‘Rejoice!’” (Philip. 4:4) Why is this so important? “For the joy of the Lord is our strength” (Neh. 8:10).  I am personally discovering again that “rejoice” is a good discipline for the hard times.  May the Lord reveal to you His mysterious joy as you look to Him today!
