Risen King turns 20!
"Wow! Wish I could be there. I remember when there were just 13 of us in Terry's garage. There were 80 of us that first week, after lots of telephone calls and it grew exponentially from there. Much love to you all and celebrating with you from a distance!" (Jill Davidson)
"I remember sharing life with some amazing youth at Risen King. We spent a lot of time together. Our youth worship team took a trip to the Worshiptogether conference in San Diego. About 25 youth would come to our house on Friday nights to eat muffins and play Jenga. And most importantly, we learned to worship Jesus together." (Tim Loomis)
"Might be too late, Bill, but there are a few great memories I can recall in our short time at RKCC. The healing of our marriage being tops, and the day I spoke at the men;s breakfast before moving to Colorado. I would be in a horrid dark place without Risen King! Less heavy recollection - The Baptizer Hunter skit we filmed." (Mark Alexander)
"I have been coming to Risen King now for almost 7 years. My favorite memory was the first day I walked through the doors. My brother in law showed me the church and the next thing I know I am helping in the media booth…” (Brandon Wickersham)
"My memory begins from the time I entered Pastor Bills Church Planting class at Simpson University. Bill took an interest in me right away and could tell that my heart was heavy... I was invited to come and join the Risen King family and from the first time I walked through the doors, I have felt the love of the community for one another. Since then I have had the opportunity to share a communion meditation, be involved in Leadership (currently with the Young Adult Group), and found a home church in which I have been able to serve where ever needed. Most importantly, I have rebuilt my relationship with Christ through the love, care, and encouragement shown by Risen King, Pastor Bill, and the rest of the Risen King leadership. Praise God for our congregation who in every way reaches out to each other and the community around us." (Andrew Stoffel)
"My dearest memories are at the Woman's Retreats. Laughing, crying, sharing, and worshiping with some of the most wonderful, and gifted, women I have ever met. Each retreat brought a new revelation of God, and He met me there with grace, love, and encouragement." (Carrie Mello)
"Mine is not so much a memory of Risen King but of the people who make up the Church body. In 1996 I had a huge discussion with Ron W. at Simpson. Ron said he knew that I had a vast knowledge of the history of Christianity but that I really didn't know Christ. Ron invited me to come to Risen King and told me how wonderful, loving, accepting and non-judgmental the people there were. At that time I did not feel worthy of anyone's love, let along Christ's. The seed had been planted, and Ron had told me that God's love was always there for me and Risen King would be there for me too when I was ready for a church home. It took me 12 years, and meeting Jill at work, but I finally showed up at the door of Risen King. It is because of Ron and Risen King that I have accepted Christ. Now I cannot imagine my life without Risen King. Thank you Ron, Jill, Laura, Bill, Jim and everyone else at Risen King!" (Monique Pilgrim-Pruitt)
"GO CAMPS...spending a whole weekend with all ages coming together to worship, serve, dance, pray... these are some of my favorite Risen King memories. I loved watching children and youth surround adults and pray over them during the Sunday morning ministry time after we had all performed the dances that we had worked on all weekend." (Kerri Loomis)
"Favorite memory...the 24 hour prayer room and how God used that time to shape the church, heal the people, and capture their hearts for intimacy with Him." (Nick Emery)
