Our Mission
We are devoted to helping people become more fully human and knowing who God made them to be through living out the Kingdom of God in tangible ways.
Background
As a response to the poverty that surrounds our world and local community we are earnestly seeking to make a difference in lives of those living in impoverished settings. Through study of the Scriptures we desire to learn God’s view on poverty and thus what our response as a community should be. Based off of an understanding of the Kingdom of God and the principles of community developments, we are building relationships with residents of trailer park communities and utilizing ways in which we can bring about community driven changes. So far in communities that we are visiting we have been able to hold inductive Bible studies, assist in creating a community garden and develop an after school program for children.
We have developed relationships through community organizing. Our development work has 4 stages:
- Stage one is to develop relationships with key community members.
- The second is to start to help those we have relationships with to self reflect and inquire into what areas of their lives they would like to change.
- The third stage is to gather the community together and use participatory tools to do this as a community and develop an action plan to change some of these elements.
- The fourth stage is to help facilitate the change by doing the community run project.
