In February, my right knee started to bother me so I went to the doctor and I found I needed arthroscopic surgery on a torn meniscus. A date was finally set in April and I was grateful to finally get my knee fixed. During the pre-op check, my blood test was all messed up, so surgery was postponed and I was sent to a hematologist to determine the source of my abnormal blood test. It was determined that I needed a bone marrow biopsy to figure out the problem. During the week before the biopsy, many people were concerned and praying for me as they had been all along. When I went back the next week for the bone marrow biopsy, it was found in the blood test that my blood was nearly back to normal levels. Therefore, no biopsy was needed. I know it was God’s healing hand on my body that brought my blood back to normal. Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Next week I will have another blood test and then be back on the schedule for knee surgery, unless the Lord decides to heal my knee as well! (Deb Wiseman)

LifeGroups

Small Groups at Risen King

At Risen King, we say that a disciple is a Christ-follower who is in community with other Christ-followers who together are fulfilling the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. A key way that most people at Risen King experience this kind of community is in one of our LifeGroups.

LifeGroups are circles of friends (usually 6-15 people) who covenant to help one another grow to be more like Christ.  They encourage and hold each other accountable in the areas of transformation (our character becoming more like Jesus’), mission (purposefully engaging with people who don’t yet know Jesus), and service (using spiritual gifts to build up the church).

When a LifeGroup meets together, they usually share refreshments of some kind, have an interactive discussion or study, and spend time praying for and ministering to one another.  Since these are covenanted groups, group members know they will see the same people from week to week – and they know they will be missed if they aren’t there.  Of course, the LifeGroup isn’t about just going to a meeting - the relationships that are built go beyond the 90 minutes a week that the group is together.

GroupLink

How to connect with a LifeGroup at Risen King

One of our main starting points for participating in a LifeGroup is to attend a GroupLink event.  GroupLinks include food, a more thorough overview of what LifeGroups are all about, and the chance for new leaders and prospective participants to meet and get to know one another.  Attending a GroupLink doesn’t obligate you to be in a LifeGroup, but it will help you understand LifeGroups better and, if you’re interested, find one that’s right for you.

Next GroupLink: GroupLink Just Happened August 28th, but it is not too late to get connected to a LifeGroup. Contact the church office for details (244.2300).
