Journey to Oasis
Risen King's Future
A church facility isn’t the Church – but it can help facilitate the ministry that God has given us. In order to better fulfill our mission of making disciples, the Risen King church family is working to build a new church home on Oasis Road.
In the fall of 1999, Risen King purchased 20 acres of land less than a mile east of Interstate 5 on Oasis Road. These rolling hills of scrub oak and manzanita are in the heart of Redding’s next area to be developed and provide a strategic location from which Risen King will reach out into our community.
This property will be developed in phases. Since we are building on vacant land, a big part of our first phase includes building up the necessary infrastructure – putting in the driveway and parking lots, bringing utilities on site, etc. The actual building we will construct in our first phase will include a worship center that will seat about 800 people; classrooms for nursery, preschool, children, youth and adults; a "Family Life Center" multi-use room that can seat 250 at tables; and administrative offices. Part of the campus development in our first phase will also include a prayer and meditation path.
The first phase of our campus development has been broken down into two parts. In "Phase 1a", we are building a 600 seat worship center and foyer. We are also bringing in modular buildings for our classrooms. In "Phase 1b", we will expand the worship center by about 200 seats, build a larger foyer, add the multi-use room and kitchen, and build permanent children’s classrooms and offices.
Future phases could include larger worship venues, additional classrooms and offices, and more multi-use spaces.
In 2007 we were able to complete the majority of the site work. We cleared trees, did all the mass grading (reshaping the site), and put in utility pipes and conduits. We also put in curbs, gutters and sidewalks and paved the parking lot, driveways, and fire road. Additionally, we were able to complete our frontage improvements (widening Oasis Road) and make a start on landscaping along our perimeter and in our parking lot.
In 2008 we were able to continue construction on the facility itself. Our current construction schedule has us occupying our new facility in June, 2009. Check the website often to see updated construction photos!
